On February 14, 2023, Dessal organized a technical specialization course for sailors used to the most extreme weather conditions.
In the morning, the engineer Xavier Portillo gave a three-hour presentation explaining advanced concepts on the different electrical and electronic components of the water treatment plants, the Booster and high-pressure pumps, and how to solve problems and possible errors at sea.
In the afternoon, the knowledge acquired was put into practice through a "hands-on" session in the test bench, where valves and seals were changed in different types of high-pressure pumps and membranes were changed.
Technical knowledge provides independence when it comes to being able to manage possible breakdowns when we are in remote places without access to the telephone.
