On February 14, 2023, Dessal organized a technical specialization course for sailors accustomed to the most extreme weather conditions.
In the morning, engineer Xavier Portillo gave a three-hour presentation explaining advanced concepts regarding the different electrical and electronic components of water treatment plants, booster and high-pressure pumps, and how to solve problems and possible errors on the high seas.
In the afternoon, the knowledge acquired was put into practice through a hands-on session on the test bench, where valves and seals were changed in different types of high-pressure pumps and membranes were changed.
Technical knowledge provides independence when it comes to managing possible breakdowns when we find ourselves in remote locations without access to a telephone.
